Chapter Twelve

Sawyer

Hearing Boyd call me from the kitchen, I dropped the colouring pen onto the picture I’d been drawing and got up off the floor to go and see what he wanted. We’d decided to stay in all weekend and just have fun, and we had.

Boyd had helped me move my things into his room the day before, and I’d spent an age making sure everything in my box was now tucked in the drawer under his bed. It had been a weird feeling putting my things into something other than the box. It felt kind of monumental, and I’d found myself wandering upstairs just to open the drawer and look inside.

Was it too soon to have all these feelings? To want to talk about them?

Stop it, we’re little today and you’re not supposed to be worrying about the big stuff.

I huffed in frustration, feeling conflicted with myself at wanting to be little and not shut off my head at the same time.

Walking into the kitchen I halted when I saw that Boyd had his coat on. Glancing down at my adult baby grow, my lip poked out. “I thought we were staying in?” I said in a sulky tone that got an eyebrow rise out of Boyd.

“We are, but with how busy we’ve been at your house, I forgot to do a food shop and get some essentials. We’ve none of the cereal left that you like and there’s no fresh fruit or veg either. If I want to make the roast dinner I promised you, I need to go and get some shopping.” He tucked his wallet into his back pocket, then grabbed the keys off the counter and walked towards me.

When he reached me, he kissed the top of my head and gave me a wink. “I won’t be long. Maybe you’ll be finished with your picture by the time I get back and you can show me what you’ve done.”

His grin was contagious, and my insides warmed at being able to show him my completed picture. “Oh, Daddy, you’re gonna love it.” I clapped my hands together in excitement.

“I’m sure I will. Go on now, Daddy won’t be long.” He patted my bottom before giving me a quick kiss.

I waved him off at the door before rushing back into the living room, hoping I’d be able to finish the picture I’d made of his garden. I chewed the end of the pen as I looked out the window, then carried on with my colouring in.

Unsure how long I’d spent kneeling on the floor, I groaned when my bladder said I needed to pee. The doorbell chimed, and I froze in a half crouched position then glanced down at my outfit, chewing my lower lip between my teeth. Bugger!

There was no way I was going to answer the door dressed as I was, because I was damn sure that Boyd wouldn’t want me outing him like that. I remained crouched, rooted to the spot, feeling more than a little ridiculous when I realised nobody could see me or get in the house.
